Reviving Al-Mashaelah market in the heart of the old town as a people-friendly urban square that reflects the identity of Huraymila.
The site sits inside the old urban fabric of Huraymila, fronting King Abdulaziz Street on the west, and includes the historic square, the old mosque, mud houses and antiquities, a school and parking, with an existing storm-water channel crossing the land.
The main goal is to revive this historic component as a people-friendly urban square that reflects the identity of the old town, comfortable for pedestrians, organised for vehicles, and rich with planting and local stone elements.
Highlights
- A comfortable, connected network of sidewalks and safe paths.
- Reviving the historic market as a gathering square tied to the town’s urban memory.
- Planting the square and surrounding roads, with natural stone defining the paths.
- Turning the storm-water channel into an open, stone-clad landscape feature.
- Restoring the ruins and old houses around the market and re-integrating them into the scene.
